EPISODE 316: From Burned Out High Achiever to Multi-Million Dollar Coach: The Messy Truth About Success That No One Talks About

Business, Confidence, Emotions, Energy, Mindset, Money, Podcasts

This week, I’m flipping the script and taking the hot seat.

In this special episode, I’m joined by my client Angela—a life coach and medical doctor from New Zealand—for a deep, heartfelt conversation about what it really means to choose your path, trust yourself, and evolve beyond who you used to be.

We dive into the real behind-the-scenes of my journey: the career pivots, identity shifts, and uncomfortable-but-worth-it moments that led me to where I am today. From walking away from business models that no longer felt aligned, to navigating fear and self-doubt, this episode is an honest look at what happens when we stop performing and start living from our values.

Inside this episode, you’ll hear us talk about:

  • Why choosing yourself often means disappointing others
  • Letting go of identities that once felt safe—but no longer serve
  • What it really looks like to lead with integrity (even when it’s messy)
  • How to stop outsourcing your power and start trusting your truth
  • Why redefining success is one of the most courageous things you can do
  • The quiet—but radical—act of living in alignment with your values

This isn’t about “doing it all” or chasing the next goal. This is about you—getting honest about what you want, what matters most, and where you’re still stuck in outdated stories that are keeping you from living fully.

This episode is for you if you are:

  • At a crossroads in your life or business
  • Tired of chasing success that doesn’t feel good
  • Ready to reconnect with yourself—and choose your next chapter with intention

And if this episode speaks to you, it’s time to go deeper…

00:00:27:16 - 00:00:45:24
Lisa

00:00:45:24 - 00:01:17:04
Lisa
Hey. Hey, everybody. Thanks for joining us for another episode of the Full Frontal Living Podcast. And I said ask because I'm actually joined by a client of mine, Angela. And also we're going to be turning things around a little bit this week. Angela came to me. I don't know how many months ago now, and she always has a lot of questions for me, for the background of my business, my life, and I'm always very, very happy to share with my clients to the, you know, to the extent I can share.

00:01:17:06 - 00:01:36:27
Lisa
Obviously, we're going to stay focused on their session during their session. But I believe you suggested to me, how about I interview you for your podcast? And I thought, Wow, that's really that would be kind of fun and interesting because I'm often interviewed by other people for their podcast, but it's been a very long time since I've been interviewed by one of my clients.

00:01:36:27 - 00:01:55:20
Lisa
I don't think any of my clients have ever interviewed me for a podcast. So we thought, why not just go for it? So I'm not really sure what Angela is going to ask me all today. We're going to see where the conversation takes us, but I'm going to let her introduce herself a little bit and share a bit about our journey together and then we'll dive in.

00:01:55:20 - 00:02:04:20
Lisa
And I'm going to I'm going to sit back into being the interviewee and Angela is going to run the show. So Angela, go ahead and introduce yourself.

00:02:04:23 - 00:02:37:28
Angela
Brilliant. Thank you, Lisa. I am a life coach and medical doctor and Otero and New Zealand and I first saw Lisa saw you with a different program. I was in and I, I was I was blown away really by the what I would call now is detachment. Like your ability to hold space but remain detached from what was unfolding in front.

00:02:37:28 - 00:03:02:15
Angela
I was like, Wow, I've never seen that before. And you know, bit by bit I worked my way towards coaching with you. And I've also really appreciated as growing my own life coaching business. It's always been amazing to see what you're doing and how you're doing it. I remember when I first heard that you were having all of August off.

00:03:02:15 - 00:03:17:26
Angela
I was like, Who does that? Who takes a month off like that? It's amazing. So, so it is brilliant to yeah. To find out more about you and have the listeners join us for the right.

00:03:17:28 - 00:03:40:27
Lisa
Yeah. And you've changed you've changed so much through our work together. I mean your entire life has changed. You're stepping into this new business. You still have your medical license, of course, but it's just been such a pleasure and honor to watch you grow. And it's such a great evidence to me. So even though I don't specifically coach people around businesses or growing their their businesses as I coach to the whole person.

00:03:41:00 - 00:03:41:14
Angela
And that.

00:03:41:14 - 00:04:01:10
Lisa
Relates to everything that you do. I'm always happy to share behind the scenes of business stuff because it is so relevant to many of my clients, even if even if their business looks nothing like my business because we're all just human trying to figure out our path. And I think often we believe that other people know what they're doing.

00:04:01:13 - 00:04:16:16
Lisa
And it's been my experience that most of us don't know what we're doing. We're just kind of making it up as we go. And sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. So yeah, I'm excited. I'm excited to share. So ask away whatever your burning questions are and we'll we'll see what's there.

00:04:16:19 - 00:04:40:04
Angela
Yeah, well, I, I would love to start with what is your story? Because I know you've done more than 300 episodes of the Full Frontal Living podcast and different people will have joined you at different stages. So I thought for all of us, it would be lovely to hear, you know, like your story from wherever you want to begin, that.

00:04:40:05 - 00:04:45:27
Lisa
It's such a long story because I'll be I'll be 53 this year and I've been coaching.

00:04:45:29 - 00:04:46:06
Angela
For.

00:04:46:06 - 00:05:04:13
Lisa
More than 20 years now, so like it's a really wild twisting story. So I'll try to remember as much as I can. But, you know, I started way back in the day. I was in corporate and was very ambitious even back in those days and really wanted to.

00:05:04:15 - 00:05:04:28
Angela
Play with the.

00:05:04:28 - 00:05:31:07
Lisa
Voice, so to speak. And you'll get you'll get this. I was on the sales desk. I was shipping like million dollar orders onto cruise ships and I wanted to be an outside sales. And the reason I'm telling this story is relevance to my entrepreneurial journey. Anyways, I did all the things that they asked me to do. I ticked all the boxes and they wouldn't put me on on sales pretty much because I wasn't a man.

00:05:31:09 - 00:05:33:16
Angela
And I'll never forget that's me so deep.

00:05:33:19 - 00:05:54:00
Lisa
I know, I know that that's a thing for you and I just I remember they had given me an offer and it wasn't what I wanted. And it wasn't an opportunity to go out on the road in sales, which was what I really wanted. And I'll never forget this because I walked into the CEO's office and his head was down in the newspaper and I walked in and he said, yes.

00:05:54:00 - 00:06:12:26
Lisa
He didn't even look up at me. And I said, I'm going to turn down your offer and I'm going to be leaving the company. And he didn't again, he didn't even look up. He said, okay. And I thought, man, I just like, busted my balls. I did everything you guys asked of me. I am great at what I do.

00:06:12:26 - 00:06:33:23
Lisa
I had won a top salesperson award and my interpretation was they were not going to put me out on the road because I wasn't a girl. We were selling like toilet paper and paper towel. Like it was a real male dominated industry, but there was no reason why I couldn't do the job. So I left and that's when I started my relatively short lived sales career.

00:06:33:23 - 00:06:55:24
Lisa
I sold souvenirs and flower products and stuff. But the reason that that story was so important was because that was the moment that I decided I was never working for someone again. I was never going to part my heart and soul into somebody else's business, only to feel like I wasn't respected isn't the right word, but it wasn't valued.

00:06:55:26 - 00:07:14:20
Lisa
So that's kind of how I left corporate. And then, you know, years later, after I'd been in sales, you know, I decided I wanted to start a family. I think really just because I wanted to get off of being on the road, like I didn't really know what I wanted to do with my life. And that's when I decided to get my personal training certificate.

00:07:14:20 - 00:07:29:09
Lisa
I'd already been training for years. I had started competing and I thought, Well, this is going to be a great job. I'm going to become a you know, I'm going to become a personal trainer. I can run my own business. And I'll never forget because my dad actually said to me, But yeah, when are you going to get a real job?

00:07:29:12 - 00:07:30:08
Angela
Oh.

00:07:30:10 - 00:07:54:26
Lisa
I got another like foot in the knife and twisted. And back then I was really working from this like energy of I had to prove myself. I needed to prove myself, always chasing achievements and accomplishments, never feeling good enough so that that prove it energy. And then I'll. And then I'll feel loved and accepted and worthy and all that garbage and that, you know, when am I going to get a real job.

00:07:54:26 - 00:08:23:07
Lisa
Moment ended up, you know, I grew a massive personal training studio. Then I moved into nutrition, built out an entire nutrition program, had a big studio space with a colleague of mine. We shared a business. And then eventually, after I grew my nutrition business, I decided that I wanted to move that online. So I'd been teaching nutrition classes and in real life I wanted to slowly phase out of personal training and go fully into nutrition and then moved it online.

00:08:23:10 - 00:08:43:20
Lisa
And then, you know, just over the years, my business continued to evolve where I eventually I walked away from that nutrition course that I built. I still have it still a program that you can buy on my website. I wrote a book about it, but it was just time to move past it. People were reaching out and wanting to hire me for coaching that had nothing to do.

00:08:43:20 - 00:08:44:17
Angela
With.

00:08:44:20 - 00:08:59:01
Lisa
Nutrition and weight loss. And to be quite frank, by the time that I gave that up, I was so over it because I realized that, you know, food wasn't the problem, people's weight wasn't the problem, but their identities and their beliefs around food in their bodies were the problem.

00:08:59:03 - 00:09:08:19
Angela
And I said, What? What do you think people saw in you that made them reach out and ask you to coach them?

00:09:08:21 - 00:09:23:26
Lisa
That's a really great question because I still remember her name was Jen Scalia. She was a she was a coach. I believe she's still a coach online. She was the first person to reach out to me. And she said to me, I want you to coach me, but I don't want you to coach me around.

00:09:24:02 - 00:09:25:09
Angela
Food.

00:09:25:11 - 00:09:31:10
Lisa
Or my body. And I was like, But that's what I do. And she's like, Actually, it's not what you do.

00:09:31:13 - 00:09:31:24
Angela
Mm.

00:09:31:29 - 00:09:33:22
Lisa
Like, you just don't know it yet.

00:09:33:25 - 00:09:34:11
Angela
Wow.

00:09:34:13 - 00:09:37:07
Lisa
And I was like, okay.

00:09:37:09 - 00:09:38:27
Angela
So that.

00:09:38:29 - 00:09:41:21
Lisa
You know, like, that's really how it started.

00:09:41:23 - 00:09:42:20
Angela
Yeah.

00:09:42:23 - 00:10:06:04
Lisa
Eventually I moved into my mentors program. Jim Ford And we both know who he is, and my coaching just kind of evolved from there. But I mean, ultimately it was realizing that the nutrition program and how I thought I was going to create my success in business, it didn't matter what I tried, it became clearer and clearer that it wasn't going to happen that way.

00:10:06:06 - 00:10:29:19
Lisa
And the more that I was attached to that business being the thing that brought me success, the more I was moving away from the things that could potentially bring me success. So it's still a part of what I coach on, right? Like, you know, you've been working with me, you know, like taking care of your physical wellbeing is still a part of my business, but it's just not the main thing anymore.

00:10:29:19 - 00:10:40:12
Lisa
So it's this beautiful pillar that now I get to work into how I work with clients, but it's not the thing that I. It's not the thing that I lead with with.

00:10:40:14 - 00:11:01:22
Angela
I'd love you to get more granular on when you just said how that was the thing you were doing. But then it became more apparent that following that path was starting to take you further away from what you wanted. Can you speak more to that?

00:11:01:24 - 00:11:03:05
Lisa
It's, you know, it's so.

00:11:03:07 - 00:11:03:11
Angela
Just.

00:11:03:15 - 00:11:04:21
Lisa
Sitting here, reminiscing.

00:11:04:21 - 00:11:09:10
Angela
On it.

00:11:09:13 - 00:11:17:11
Lisa
It was such a version of me that I barely recognize now. Yeah, I moved when I moved my EAP program online.

00:11:17:17 - 00:11:18:13
Angela
Got I don't even know how.

00:11:18:13 - 00:11:36:04
Lisa
Many years ago now. 2016, 2015, 2014, somewhere around there. Like it's been a while. I just thought like, oh, if I this program was working so well in studio, I had lots of people registered for it all the time or what I thought was lots, right? Like I've had 20 people in a room. I thought I was like, Wonder Woman.

00:11:36:07 - 00:11:55:23
Lisa
So I'm like, Of course I'll just move this program online and, you know, I'm going to be a smashing success. So I spent so much time and money building out this perfect program, the perfect videos, the perfect hair, the perfect everything. If you watch these videos, because I think you have access to this, you'll watch. We are like, who is this robotic version of Lisa right?

00:11:55:23 - 00:12:18:15
Lisa
Because the the belief underneath and I wasn't conscious was if everything is just perfect and all the branding is perfect and everything looks amazing, this will be successful. Yeah, but none of those things actually create success. So I spent all this time and money bringing this program to life, recording these videos, getting all the PDFs uploaded, getting the branding perfect and everything.

00:12:18:18 - 00:12:20:10
Lisa
And then I was like.

00:12:20:12 - 00:12:20:25
Angela
You know.

00:12:21:00 - 00:12:34:17
Lisa
I don't know how to add or How do I sell this? I have to, I have to market. Like I was really like, if you build it, they will come. And then I found out really quickly like, Oh, if you can't market what you do as good as what you do, what you do, you won't have a business.

00:12:34:20 - 00:12:54:07
Lisa
And that was really that was really hard for me. The marketing aspect has always been a challenge for me and now I can look back on it and go, Oh, so let me fast forward a little bit here. These days, counting macros, weighing your food. All this stuff is mainstream now.

00:12:54:10 - 00:12:54:29
Angela
Yeah.

00:12:55:01 - 00:13:13:00
Lisa
This was the stuff I was teaching a decade ago and people were like, I don't I don't want to learn how to do this for myself. Just tell me how to eat. Just tell me what to do so I can get the results I want. And I was really here, as I've always been, to empower people to be responsible for their own outcomes.

00:13:13:03 - 00:13:13:27
Angela
Yeah, like.

00:13:14:02 - 00:13:37:13
Lisa
Choose the cookie or choose the broccoli. I don't care. It's your choice, but own it either way and move on. So the marketing aspect was always really hard for me. So, I mean, I did webinars, I did launches. I paid somebody, I think it was like $20,000 to do a big launch for me. Here's our good, better, best goals never occurred to me that we wouldn't even hit our good goal.

00:13:37:16 - 00:14:01:22
Lisa
So I barely broke even on that, which was so devastating for me at the time because I had poured so much heart and soul into it. There are so many lessons learned the lady had hired to help me launch it. She kind of went AWOL in the middle of the launch. I remember I was at an an event and I was literally bawling my eyes out in the hotel room trying to fix the things that were broken because I knew like it was tanking.

00:14:01:24 - 00:14:12:15
Lisa
I had convinced my partner to help me pay for ads to promote the launch. Right. Like we went, I went all in. I've always been like, full send, like, Let's go.

00:14:12:17 - 00:14:14:05
Angela
And I got my ass.

00:14:14:05 - 00:14:34:18
Lisa
Handed to me. And so that launch, I learned a lot of things. I went on to teach for weeks where I felt like I wasn't getting paid. There were lots of lessons in that. That launch ended up actually making me more revenue because many of those women went on to upgrade to work with me. And in ways, you know, down the road.

00:14:34:21 - 00:14:54:07
Lisa
But it was just this is what I mean. It didn't matter what way I turned. And I mean, I even had a call with one of the top business coaches online. We laid out my webinar everything, and I remember him saying to me, like, Lisa, this can't fail. Like, just go do this and everything's going to be Ace.

00:14:54:10 - 00:14:57:28
Lisa
Everything was not easy. Nothing planned, right?

00:14:57:28 - 00:14:59:01
Angela
Like it just.

00:14:59:04 - 00:15:18:01
Lisa
This is what I'm saying. Like every time I double down and tried harder, I could never create the results that I wanted. So it wasn't for lack of trying. It wasn't for lack of like, hard work. All of that was there. And I would have people say to me all the time like, Well, you're just not aligned. And I'm like, What does that even mean?

00:15:18:01 - 00:15:41:02
Lisa
Like, I love the work. At the time, I loved what I was doing, but I can look back now and say, you know what? The universe was really trying to redirect me in a more powerful way, and that's okay. But at the time it was painful because I felt like I was constantly pushing the boulder up the hill, only to have it roll back down on me and wondering like, What am I doing wrong?

00:15:41:02 - 00:16:06:03
Lisa
Like everybody else seems to be nailing this online thing and I seem to be failing miserably. So yeah, that launch we put like over 10,000 people on our list. So I added a lot of people to my list. And you know, years later, when I decided that I was finally ready to burn it all down, I wrote my book rebranded and then we deleted almost every single person off of our list.

00:16:06:05 - 00:16:24:01
Lisa
I still remember I wrote a list that said, I'm deleting you. And then I shared like why I was releasing them. So they had the option of staying on or leaving. But the way that I felt about it was I didn't want people hanging out with me, even on my email list, who weren't aligned with the work that I was stepping into.

00:16:24:01 - 00:16:51:23
Lisa
And I wanted to release them energetically to free me and to free them to find their next person. And, you know, for me it felt like because I pour so much into my work in my writing and it felt like standing on a stage where, you know, 90% of the room had their backs to me. So even that decision to like, okay, we're going to delete all these people and we're just going to move forward boldly with this whole new business.

00:16:51:25 - 00:16:53:27
Lisa
And it was probably about a year.

00:16:53:27 - 00:16:55:22
Angela
Where.

00:16:55:25 - 00:17:19:29
Lisa
I felt like, What am I doing right? So I burnt down the old business. I wasn't doing that anymore, but I wasn't fully embodied in the new version of me or this type of, you know, being this type of coach. Like, I was like, What am I talking about? What am I message? Who am I talking to? And I just made things really, really hard on myself, Like my business coach back in the day, I think wanted to hang me up by my toenails.

00:17:20:01 - 00:17:28:11
Lisa
It was really challenging for me to find my stride. So that's a very like, that's as short as I can make that story. But that's how I went from like corporate.

00:17:28:12 - 00:17:29:22
Angela
To where.

00:17:29:22 - 00:17:31:21
Lisa
I am today. And, you know.

00:17:31:21 - 00:18:00:25
Angela
I just want to I just want to pick up on a point there. Yeah. When you're you know, when it's so it's kind of well and good when we're through it and can look back. But when you're in it, when you're in that place of awful. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Awful. The place of awful we have you know, released the old people or the old people from your list.

00:18:00:27 - 00:18:33:15
Angela
You're not quite embodied or like really into the new version because I imagine lots of people, myself included in this, can, you can feel quite lost and it can be quite hard to keep turning into yourself irrespective of what other people are telling you to do. What's expected, what's the normal way of doing it, and to really remain kind of true to that, even when it doesn't seem to be panning out particularly well.

00:18:33:18 - 00:18:58:09
Angela
So I'd love you to speak to, you know, how you do that yourself and also how how the nuance between a universal redirection and some determination and tenacity, like how you. Yeah, so there's a double piece and therefore.

00:18:58:09 - 00:19:08:00
Lisa
Yeah, Jake is four, Jake just turned 14. So I need to get some context around this as well.

00:19:08:03 - 00:19:11:20
Lisa
My partner went into rehab when Jake was about.

00:19:11:22 - 00:19:13:02
Angela
Six.

00:19:13:03 - 00:19:36:16
Lisa
Seven months old. Yeah. So even though I'd been a coach for over a decade before that, or just under a decade before that, my real transformation didn't happen until after he went to rehab. And I really went into like deep down into therapy and then coaching and on and on and on. So all this business running stuff is going along side of this journey.

00:19:36:19 - 00:20:03:09
Lisa
So that period of time when I was burning stuff down and like stepping, I mean, I was still figuring out who am I? Like, I was still working through my own, like attaching my worthiness to my accomplishments, my perfectionism, my wanting to control, overworking, overdoing, like all of these things were still like they were such a big part of my life, right?

00:20:03:09 - 00:20:16:14
Lisa
Believing I had to do more to create results that I wanted. So this period of time when I was letting stuff go, I mean, I remember I went through a season of such a brutal depression.

00:20:16:17 - 00:20:17:07
Angela
And.

00:20:17:09 - 00:20:47:07
Lisa
My doctor said to me, You know, I think we should put you on antidepressants. And I was like, No, we're not going to do that. I'm going to manage this holistically on my own, which was really taking hours and hours of bass while watching Once Upon a Time. I don't know if you've ever seen that show, right? Like just having to immerse myself into like, a fantasy world, to pull myself out of, like, the despair that I was in because I was at that time, I was really, really attached to my suffering and everything being hard.

00:20:47:07 - 00:20:48:19
Lisa
That's all I knew.

00:20:48:22 - 00:20:49:15
Angela
Yeah.

00:20:49:18 - 00:21:14:04
Lisa
You hear me talk about this a lot. We all talk about wanting to create success in abundance, but you can't create that when you're attached to this place of deep suffering. So there was a real period of deep depression. I remember my partner was really, like genuinely worried about me and I'm like, I'm going to be okay. But I had made some decisions in my business that had pulled me out of energetic alignment.

00:21:14:06 - 00:21:29:19
Lisa
The then one that I remember the most is I remember the first time I quoted a higher price that I quoted, basically because somebody else who was less experienced than I was quoted a price. And I was like, That's the proven energy.

00:21:29:21 - 00:21:29:27
Angela
Right?

00:21:30:02 - 00:21:50:08
Lisa
So you can call that price hike. I can charge that or more. And I did. And somebody said yes, and then they paid me in cash. I'll never forget it at all. Like Canadian money is very pretty. I laid it all out on the table and then the first thought into my head afterwards was like, How am I ever going to find another person who's going to pay me that much?

00:21:50:10 - 00:21:51:03
Angela
Wow.

00:21:51:05 - 00:21:57:24
Lisa
And because integrity is such a high value, I'm like, I can't go back now, but I didn't know how to go forward.

00:21:57:27 - 00:21:59:03
Angela
MM Yeah.

00:21:59:03 - 00:22:10:24
Lisa
So instead of looking at that as like, Oh, this is proof that, that I can like, people will pay me this for my expertise. I like the part of me that hadn't healed yet was like, you're screwed.

00:22:10:27 - 00:22:11:13
Angela
Like.

00:22:11:16 - 00:22:32:04
Lisa
What have you done? That was kind of the tail spin around the, you know, the depression and stuff. And again, like, nothing felt like it was working in my business. I was trying so hard. I was taking the boxes. I was doing everything that I was told to be doing by all the experts out there. And nothing was taking off the way I wanted it to.

00:22:32:07 - 00:22:56:17
Lisa
And I didn't understand that being out of alignment was that I wasn't. I didn't know who I was. I was still working under all these layers of who I wasn't really, you know, my coping mechanisms. So that's what that looked like. Now in terms of the determination and tenacity, I think I've always been I've always been somebody who's been very determined.

00:22:56:17 - 00:23:16:02
Lisa
Now, again, I don't think that that energy has come from a healthy place every time. I think that but that prove it. Energy has worked for me. Like I like to say, the mechanisms work until they don't work, then they become the very like Achilles heel that will take you out. But that too, doubt, tenacity and determination have always been the thing that have moved me forward.

00:23:16:02 - 00:23:25:03
Lisa
And I think again, looking back, it's I always bet on myself.

00:23:25:05 - 00:23:25:18
Angela
Hmm.

00:23:25:21 - 00:23:47:17
Lisa
Right. So when my dad would tell me, like, you should be saving for retirement, I was like, I'm going to take that money. I'm going to pour it into myself because I will make more money than any investment will make me. Now, I believe there can be both, but I've always assumed success. But that's also where my frustration came from, because I'm like, I know I'm here to be successful.

00:23:47:17 - 00:23:53:05
Lisa
I know I'm here to make an impact. But then the versions of me that were like, Are you sure?

00:23:53:07 - 00:23:54:17
Angela
Yeah, I know that.

00:23:54:21 - 00:24:00:12
Lisa
Who do you think you are? So many of us go through that growth of like, of of claiming our space.

00:24:00:12 - 00:24:02:18
Angela
So it.

00:24:02:21 - 00:24:06:00
Lisa
Luckily for me, I guess I don't know if it's luck, but.

00:24:06:02 - 00:24:06:11
Angela
Both.

00:24:06:11 - 00:24:30:05
Lisa
Sides were equally as powerful. So my whole career has been this push and pull internally and I feel like only now I'm standing in that place where I still get the, you know, the the parts of me that want to pull back. But I am really, truly now in a place in my career where I'm like, this is who I am standing in my authority and just moving forward.

00:24:30:05 - 00:24:34:19
Lisa
And that was, that was kind of earned energy.

00:24:34:21 - 00:24:35:09
Angela
Yeah, that.

00:24:35:16 - 00:25:00:00
Lisa
That was earned energy. So they say that confidence comes from competence. Now that I've logged, you know, hundreds of thousands of hours coaching people and, you know, getting my war wound, so to speak, I'm just like, oh, I just I can't maybe I'm just too tired to deal with all the garbage from before. But, you know, I've really I've taken the lessons and just just move them forward.

00:25:00:03 - 00:25:27:22
Angela
And when when do you interpret things as like this is a challenge to work through? There's a lesson here for me to work through. And when you're like, okay, the universe is telling me to do a different thing, because I think that there's that balance between, you know, between being like, Listen to him and I. And then there's, as you say, that part where that actually starts to become the thing.

00:25:27:28 - 00:25:35:22
Angela
The problem. And and, you know, the universe is asking you to look so very different, but sometimes it's hard to know the difference.

00:25:35:24 - 00:25:42:12
Lisa
I think I'm a stubborn ass. And I think that usually it takes the universe hitting me with a two by four, blowing up my life for me to redirect.

00:25:42:14 - 00:25:45:20
Angela
Yeah, that's the truth. Yeah.

00:25:45:22 - 00:26:06:19
Lisa
I think just like most humans, I hear whispers of needing to say. But then my fear will pull me back into what I know. Like, that's what took me so long to transition my business. Probably didn't need to take as long as it took, but it took as long as it took because that's how long it took me to get on board and let go of the things that I was holding on to.

00:26:06:19 - 00:26:24:13
Lisa
Right. Like that sunk cost of how many years and the hours that I put into studying and growing my business and building out this course to say like, Oh my God, I'm not going to teach this anymore. Like, I'm going to let this go. And that's in part why I wrote the book, because I'm like, okay, here's my final swan song, right?

00:26:24:13 - 00:26:41:27
Lisa
Like, if somebody can afford I think it's 1299 or maybe it's 299 on Kindle, like if somebody can't afford that, I can't help them. But I have to move forward with what I'm being called into. But yeah, quite often, you know, I wish I could say I would feel a nudge.

00:26:41:29 - 00:26:42:01
Angela
In.

00:26:42:08 - 00:27:07:18
Lisa
Letting stuff go, but it usually is the universe. Like, no, you don't get to have this anymore. So if you're not going to wake up, like we're going to make it so painful that you don't have a choice and a coach once said to me, and I've never forgotten this, I've had so many powerful coaches along my path, she said to me, My God, Lisa, you have a high, high pain threshold.

00:27:07:22 - 00:27:09:16
Lisa
And I was like.

00:27:09:18 - 00:27:10:21
Angela
Yeah, I do.

00:27:10:21 - 00:27:11:21
Lisa
And she's like.

00:27:11:24 - 00:27:17:02
Angela
That's not a compliment. It's a compliment.

00:27:17:05 - 00:27:27:12
Lisa
And that was kind of my first like, Oh my God, like, you're right. Like, why am I making this so hard? And that's why I'm so committed now to such.

00:27:27:14 - 00:27:27:19
Angela
A.

00:27:27:21 - 00:27:42:00
Lisa
Simple business model, while other people have bells and whistles and stuff. I mean, we do have things now behind the scenes, but that's because I've got other people that can do that for me. But my overall business model is very simple and very intimate.

00:27:42:03 - 00:27:42:14
Angela
Because.

00:27:42:18 - 00:28:08:20
Lisa
I don't want all that other fancy stuff. I'm not looking to be Internet, Internet famous. I want to create a life and a business that feels good for me, and that's it. So that like insane determination and drive, I still am determined. I still have drive. The difference is now that sense of like urgency.

00:28:08:22 - 00:28:09:15
Angela
Oh yeah.

00:28:09:18 - 00:28:11:07
Lisa
That's not there for me anymore.

00:28:11:13 - 00:28:12:13
Angela
Oh.

00:28:12:16 - 00:28:29:00
Lisa
So I trusted everything. Now I really do work from a place that everything is just unfolding as it needs to. And, you know, as you know, I just came off a couple of years of intense growth and I and I also believe that that happens to each of us as well, that we have these peaks and valleys.

00:28:29:02 - 00:28:29:23
Angela
Where.

00:28:29:26 - 00:28:53:02
Lisa
We're in the pit of despair because something needs to shift in our world. You've just come off of and you're still kind of in that place of these are the things you're working through so that we can start to climb that mountain to find that new viewpoint. And you know what it is we're creating in our lives. But nobody really talks about the painful journey of letting go along.

00:28:53:04 - 00:29:17:02
Lisa
And it's not just letting go of the things. It's it's letting go of parts of yourself that you thought were real and true and loving them and having compassion for them. Like I said, when I watched these videos from my program and I see that woman trying so hard to just do a good job and was like, you know, I really believed I wasn't caught in perfection.

00:29:17:02 - 00:29:24:23
Lisa
I was just so committed to excellence. But I wasn't. It was perfection. Like I wanted it to be so good that nobody could judge me.

00:29:24:26 - 00:29:25:06
Angela
Because.

00:29:25:06 - 00:29:27:29
Lisa
I was always judging myself.

00:29:28:01 - 00:29:29:03
Angela
Yeah.

00:29:29:05 - 00:29:37:08
Lisa
Nobody talks about how painful it is when you start to let those coping mechanisms go and what's going to have to change in your life.

00:29:37:10 - 00:30:07:00
Angela
You know? So I think it's I think it's so much work to you. And I have spoken about this, that there's this idea that letting go and surrender as this beautiful kind of sprinkling of flower petals and achieve it for me anyway, it hasn't felt like that at all. It's felt like a very conscious and deliberate process of nurturing all the emotions that come up as a day by day, moment by moment, week by week.

00:30:07:02 - 00:30:39:29
Angela
Let those patterns go. And sometimes it's, as you just alluded to, like where I am at the moment, I know I'm growing and changing and I am really proud, so proud of myself and and sometimes that day by day, stuff feels barely noticeable. And when you look back, as you said to that, that vision of you from years ago, I can look back to when we started coaching and before that and be like, wow, like I hardly recognize myself.

00:30:40:01 - 00:31:00:17
Angela
But that letting go is a such work and I totally underestimated it, to be honest. I thought to be like, Oh, look, I'm aware of the thing. I know what I want. I know who I want to be, where I want to go. So I'm just going to seamlessly move from one to the other. It's probably going to take a couple of months and then we're going to be good.

00:31:00:19 - 00:31:05:27
Angela
And yeah, it has been like that. Not that.

00:31:05:27 - 00:31:25:02
Lisa
Funny. Like you can have awareness of something for a really long time and not have the courage to change it. Right? Like awareness is almost worse because now you've opened up the closet, you see the mess and you're like, Oh my God, The only person that can be responsible for cleaning this up is me. But that will require me taking different action.

00:31:25:02 - 00:31:26:17
Lisa
And that's scary.

00:31:26:20 - 00:31:26:28
Angela
Right?

00:31:26:28 - 00:31:46:14
Lisa
Yeah. That's when you really confront these coping points that you've been working with and the gifts and the stories that you've been telling yourself. I remember us talking about you just like, you know, taking a moment to take care of yourself. And you would have thought that I was asking you to give up your form to the devil like.

00:31:46:16 - 00:31:46:22
Angela
It's.

00:31:46:22 - 00:31:48:07
Lisa
Just like, can you, can you.

00:31:48:09 - 00:31:48:24
Angela
Can you put.

00:31:48:24 - 00:31:52:28
Lisa
Aside like 10 minutes a day to prioritize your own self care?

00:31:53:00 - 00:31:53:18
Angela
It was a.

00:31:53:20 - 00:32:01:09
Lisa
Really big deal. Whereas now for you to not take care of yourself in that deep way would feel weird.

00:32:01:12 - 00:32:02:19
Angela
But at the same time.

00:32:02:22 - 00:32:14:29
Lisa
Just the for you to have the awareness of some of the things that were coming up in your life that you hadn't been aware of. That was I mean, that was just so destabilizing for you.

00:32:15:05 - 00:32:15:27
Angela
Yeah.

00:32:15:29 - 00:32:23:07
Lisa
Even that like waking up to, Oh my God, I'm doing these things. How did I not know I was doing these things? Then, you know, the judgment comes in.

00:32:23:10 - 00:32:23:29
Angela
Yeah.

00:32:24:01 - 00:32:27:22
Lisa
And don't have the like. I didn't have any skills around self-compassion.

00:32:27:22 - 00:32:28:22
Angela
And that's.

00:32:28:24 - 00:32:39:01
Lisa
Part of my journey. So even moving from that awareness to a place of accepting that this is where your life is at and then having the compassion to meet yourself there.

00:32:39:04 - 00:32:40:06
Angela
Yeah, huge.

00:32:40:06 - 00:33:04:17
Lisa
Skill. So when I look at all like the business that I've built in, the business that I burnt down, to have so much love and compassion for that version of me who had the courage to do all that, not knowing what the hell I'd done. I mean, I literally moved my business online, took B-school with Marie for Leo, immediately realized I had no idea what I was doing, but I needed an opt in bar that was back in the day when there was an opt in bar at the top of the website.

00:33:04:19 - 00:33:17:29
Lisa
Oh my God. And I needed a website. Oh, and I needed a brand. And who's going to write my copy, like all of these things, right? And I had literally bought into the Unicorn story. If you just set up a website, you build a course and.

00:33:18:02 - 00:33:20:19
Angela
People come up.

00:33:20:21 - 00:33:33:20
Lisa
Only to find out that's not the way it works. And and whether you're building a business online or offline, they're fundamental pieces of, of growing a business that I knew nothing about that I had to learn.

00:33:33:22 - 00:34:21:18
Angela
Yeah. So I'd like to I'd love to ask and we have it's been a thread through this conversation, but there's the business strategy and the, you know, that the pieces that you need to build a business and then there's the person who's doing that as well. And yeah, I'd love you to, to speak more into that like the Lisa that you are now and what you are building, what you are, you know, I guess getting that strategy and any outside help support or, you know, whatever guidance but then the you that is bringing that it's not really a question.

00:34:21:18 - 00:34:26:22
Lisa
But no I kind of understand what you're saying. Right. Because there there is that you're you are the.

00:34:26:22 - 00:34:28:05
Angela
Person and the strategy.

00:34:28:10 - 00:34:31:15
Lisa
Is only as good as the person executing on the strategy.

00:34:31:21 - 00:34:32:06
Angela
Yeah.

00:34:32:09 - 00:34:53:03
Lisa
And I had so many hang ups around some of the things I was being asked to do, which is really interesting. Now looking back on it and it's it's actually one of the reasons why can't we just have a sip here? It's actually why in 2019 I decided to hire a fitness coach and really get back into the gym.

00:34:53:03 - 00:34:54:10
Angela
Serious Yes.

00:34:54:13 - 00:35:16:12
Lisa
Because I was pouring so much into my business and my coach was like, it just it wasn't working like I was. So I was beyond frustrated. I was ready to, light a match on everything. And so I hired a fitness coach and I got back in the gym and as soon as I got back in the gym, I was like, Oh my God, you know how we do one thing is how we do everything.

00:35:16:14 - 00:35:17:15
Angela
Yeah, I was.

00:35:17:15 - 00:35:18:17
Lisa
It annoys me.

00:35:18:19 - 00:35:20:15
Angela
Yes. I mean.

00:35:20:17 - 00:35:24:29
Lisa
It really annoys me because I have range I like to.

00:35:25:01 - 00:35:25:22
Angela
Think.

00:35:25:24 - 00:35:50:13
Lisa
Of, but the things that I was willing to do in the gym, the work that I was willing to do in the gym when I didn't feel like it. Yeah. Because I knew the commitment and the discipline that was going to take for me to achieve the goals that I wanted. I wanted to get back on stage and I started to think like, God, Lisa, look at the things you're willing to do in the gym, yet you're not willing to do this stupid little thing in your business.

00:35:50:13 - 00:35:53:23
Lisa
Like you're more likely to die under the squat rack than you are.

00:35:54:00 - 00:35:54:13
Angela
You know.

00:35:54:17 - 00:36:17:17
Lisa
Making reachout calls to people you don't know online. So I really kind of transferred everything that I was doing into the gym, into my business, being to do the unsexy things, to create outcomes that I wanted. So that's when things really started shifting for me, and that's also around the time. So all during this time had also been working with my mentor.

00:36:17:18 - 00:36:40:17
Lisa
So I think I need to be transparent about that, right, Like I would. I started with Jim Fortin in 2017. He became my my coach and my mentor. I'm now one of his top level coaches and his program. I support other people as long as as well as running my own business. And there was a lot of growth for me in that community in the early years, me peeling layers.

00:36:40:17 - 00:36:51:10
Lisa
And one of the things that I came to realize is like here, I'm wanting to bring in more money into my business. I want my business to grow. But I had the worst relationship with money ever.

00:36:51:12 - 00:36:52:02
Angela
Yeah, I didn't.

00:36:52:02 - 00:37:11:26
Lisa
Have any reverence for it. I didn't have any system for it. I hate it. Like if money was a person, I was like, Screw you, you're never around when I need you. Yet. Was treating money like garbage? Never, never looked at it, didn't offer my bills. So I really started to look at, well, how how do I expect to run a successful business if I'm not willing to be the CFO.

00:37:11:29 - 00:37:13:15
Angela
And.

00:37:13:17 - 00:37:28:11
Lisa
So then starting to look at what does that look like to really be responsible for the money coming into my business? Because I realized if I don't trust myself with money, why would money come and hang out with me if I don't trust myself to manage it? And, you know, I racked up hundreds of thousands of dollars of debt.

00:37:28:11 - 00:37:34:28
Lisa
And so that was a piece I needed to be responsible for. Also started to look at like.

00:37:35:00 - 00:37:36:01
Angela
What does the.

00:37:36:01 - 00:37:38:02
Lisa
CEO of a business, how did they show.

00:37:38:02 - 00:37:39:19
Angela
Up?

00:37:39:21 - 00:37:56:04
Lisa
And I remember being a personal trainer. I'm working with Guy who is a multimillionaire, and he said to me, Lisa, do you have a business or a hobby? He's like, You don't know your numbers you don't like. He'd ask me this barrage of questions, and I could still feel like the shame washing through me because I didn't have answers.

00:37:56:06 - 00:37:59:10
Lisa
And he's like, You don't have a business, you have a hobby.

00:37:59:12 - 00:38:03:24
Angela
Well, and I was like, Oh, boy.

00:38:03:26 - 00:38:18:08
Lisa
All these things that I didn't want to be responsible for. But they do come hand in hand. Like there comes a point where being a great practitioner isn't enough. You also have to be willing to grow into being a business owner and owning that identity.

00:38:18:15 - 00:38:19:05
Angela
Yeah.

00:38:19:08 - 00:38:40:25
Lisa
And even, you know, when I was at this retreat in last February with a bunch of a peers, I sat at that table and I was like, Oh, well, like, when did I become energetic match for this group of badass women? Right? Like there was there's a woman there who's working on her first seven figure month and I was just like, jump right?

00:38:40:28 - 00:38:42:06
Angela
Doing it this.

00:38:42:08 - 00:39:02:05
Lisa
But it's because I allowed myself to begin to step into the identity of being a successful business owner, like actually seeing how the world saw me. But I wasn't willing to step into that. So going through that journey of becoming like, I can't be this like grade 12 girl who is afraid she's not going to graduate and is bad at math.

00:39:02:07 - 00:39:32:19
Lisa
I can't have that identity and the identity of a successful business owner who's generated millions like they can't coexist. So there's so much work to do around identity and the stories that we're holding on to that hold us back from living into our full potential. So again, you know, coming back to that, letting go, it's not a pretty it's not a pretty thing to let go, because as much as those that version, those old versions of me didn't serve me.

00:39:32:22 - 00:39:34:12
Angela
They did. Yeah.

00:39:34:14 - 00:39:56:24
Lisa
They kept me safe. Right? They they gave me an identity. They were they felt like my safety net. And without them, again, it's like, who am I to be this, this and this? Because I had convinced myself that that's not who I was. My current identity convinced myself that I couldn't have this new identity. And that's the work of like unbecoming and becoming the letting go.

00:39:56:27 - 00:40:22:07
Lisa
And on the flip side of the letting go, the what do you need to be committed to if you want to hold this new identity? Yeah, and it's just a messy process. Even when I came back from to loom, I was like, That was a fluke. And a lot of the women there had similar experiences where we all, you know, we had to come back into ourselves and say, wait a minute, like, no, what's the truth here?

00:40:22:09 - 00:40:44:04
Lisa
Yeah, what's the truth? What is the truth of what you who you are and what you want to continue to move into. So it's. Yeah, hopefully that answer your question. There's there's a lot to growing a business strategy piece and I believe for me I need less of a strategy when I am standing in my power of who I am.

00:40:44:04 - 00:41:00:27
Lisa
I know I can create anything from that place. Yeah, I'm relying too heavily on strategy. Then I'm not looking enough at identity like it really is a bullshit. It's a both place and I just recently hired my first business coach in years.

00:41:00:27 - 00:41:02:01
Angela
Now.

00:41:02:04 - 00:41:16:29
Lisa
And I am legit terrified to step into the room. And I love her. She's a good friend. I, you know, I takes me a long time to hire new coaches. I really want to see where their values are. I want them to have strengths that I don't have.

00:41:17:02 - 00:41:18:00
Angela
Yeah.

00:41:18:02 - 00:41:32:15
Lisa
And I want to hold my own frame and hold my own personal power alongside of them. I'll never give that power away to anybody again. I don't put anybody on a pedestal anymore, but man, is it ever bringing stuff out for me because the parts of me that I know are underdeveloped as a CEO.

00:41:32:17 - 00:41:34:26
Angela
Yes, she that's.

00:41:34:26 - 00:41:36:06
Lisa
Her job is to poke at them and.

00:41:36:06 - 00:41:36:25
Angela
Then.

00:41:36:28 - 00:41:49:28
Lisa
You want to go to this next level. Lisa, this is going to be what's required of you. This is the way you're going to need to think and feel about yourself. And these are some of the foundations that you may want to put into your business to support that.

00:41:50:01 - 00:41:50:26
Angela
So that's a.

00:41:50:28 - 00:41:54:21
Lisa
Big edge, right? Letting somebody in behind the scenes in my business again.

00:41:54:23 - 00:41:55:09
Angela
Because I'm like.

00:41:55:09 - 00:42:00:07
Lisa
Oh my God, they're going to see it's like underwear drawer. Take a look.

00:42:00:09 - 00:42:00:24
Angela
That's what it.

00:42:00:24 - 00:42:01:05
Lisa
Feels.

00:42:01:05 - 00:42:39:02
Angela
Like. So yeah, So with with your business, I have always been quite intrigued with the intimate nature of it and that individual relationship from lots of people that I see. It maybe starts off that way, but then it becomes about scaling and getting, you know, either doing big launches and getting thousands and thousands and going online, you know, with the course and and my impression is that they become quite low touch.

00:42:39:05 - 00:42:57:10
Angela
And, you know, it's like an online course. And so I'd love you to speak to what it is about that intimate that depth of connection that brings out the best in you and that you love about doing it that way.

00:42:57:13 - 00:43:05:00
Lisa
It's honestly, it's just one of my top values. And I think in addiction, intimacy and connection.

00:43:05:02 - 00:43:06:18
Angela
Yeah.

00:43:06:20 - 00:43:14:15
Lisa
I don't think there are as many people as skilled at holding that deep, intimate, connected as I do.

00:43:14:18 - 00:43:14:25
Angela
Yeah.

00:43:14:27 - 00:43:31:01
Lisa
So I look at that like, Oh, that this is a gift that's been given you to you, Lisa. Like, utilize it for some people. What they'll say about 1 to 1 coaching as it drains them.

00:43:31:03 - 00:43:32:09
Angela
I haven't bought.

00:43:32:09 - 00:43:50:19
Lisa
Off a coaching call and been like I'm drained. If I did seven calls in a day, I would be drained. But it's my job to manage my time and my energy around my schedule so that I can maintain that high level of intimacy. So I need to know how many people I can handle on my schedule at one time.

00:43:50:22 - 00:44:17:12
Lisa
I do have some things now that are a little bit more hybrid where it's, you know, 1 to 1 coaching with a group call element. But even those groups are meant to be deepened intimate. It's not here's your PDF, here's your here's your course material go do that stuff they're very I don't I don't follow any rules they're very organic calls based on what I'm seeing happening with the the women that I'm working with and I work with a lot of men 1 to 1 as well.

00:44:17:12 - 00:44:36:10
Lisa
So everybody to choose their path. Yeah, there is no right or wrong path. There is no right or wrong business model. I mean, my mentor back in the day told me, like Lisa, you should run a group program. You'd be great at it. And I still remember saying to him, That's nice. I'm going to just build a 1 to 1 business.

00:44:36:10 - 00:44:40:07
Lisa
And he was like, okay. And I was like, Oh my God. I just talk back to my mentor.

00:44:40:09 - 00:44:40:29
Angela
Yeah.

00:44:41:02 - 00:45:00:18
Lisa
The best decision that I made for me. So I'm going to continue to run my business this way until it no longer feels good for me. And in fact, I'm looking at like, how do I scale intimacy? What does that even what does that look like? You know, this year I had an opportunity to take a client to Tulum for three days and hopes 1 to 1 retreat.

00:45:00:21 - 00:45:22:14
Lisa
Love that. Want to do more of that? I would love to take people out of their environments for three days, completely take care of everything and just have those deep dive coaching conversations like and have them walk away from that experience with their life expanded. And maybe we meet every quarter. I don't know. My group retreats, I've got one in to loom next year.

00:45:22:14 - 00:45:42:14
Lisa
I've got a couple spots left for that. So I'm really looking at like, how can I create more intimate groups? But I never look, I have the privilege of also being in my mentors program, so I get to coach thousands of students in there. But It's not my program, so it's like being a grandparent, right? You come in?

00:45:42:15 - 00:46:05:22
Lisa
Yeah, I know what that's like. Yeah, but that's what it feels like. I get to coach on a wide variety of things and then within my own business, I get to build that how I want. So, you know, kudos to people who scale and hire and that thing. But that's not why people seek me out. And like I said, I have zero interest in being the most Internet famous coach.

00:46:05:22 - 00:46:23:11
Lisa
Like if if nobody knows about me except my clients and their lives are changing and they're changing the lives of other people. Life well lived, you know. And I think another thing for me is.

00:46:23:14 - 00:46:24:26
Angela
I know.

00:46:24:29 - 00:46:31:08
Lisa
What feels expansive for me in terms of money in the bank and life.

00:46:31:10 - 00:46:32:08
Angela
And yeah.

00:46:32:14 - 00:46:51:08
Lisa
That is more like vanity metrics are fun, I guess, but that's not the most important thing to me. Like I know how much money my business needs to make for me to live a really extraordinary life and have future savings and all that kind of stuff. So I guess I could scale to millions and millions of dollars. There's nothing wrong with that.

00:46:51:08 - 00:46:57:16
Lisa
But if it doesn't align with what actually makes me excited about getting out of bed in the morning, why would I do that?

00:46:57:18 - 00:46:58:15
Angela
Yeah.

00:46:58:18 - 00:47:01:18
Lisa
So that's where I work from. I just think that.

00:47:01:20 - 00:47:01:28
Angela
If.

00:47:01:28 - 00:47:37:05
Lisa
More people made their decisions based on their values, everybody would be a little bit happier. So and some people might say, Well, Lisa, you're playing small. And I do have big goals and visions for my business. I really do. And I can see how that's possible with these different hybrid programs that I have. But, you know, even my business coach and she does very, very well for herself, she caps the number of people she'll have in her containers, and she's very specific about how she works with people to maintain that level of intimacy.

00:47:37:05 - 00:47:39:11
Lisa
It's one of the reasons why I chose her.

00:47:39:14 - 00:47:39:28
Angela
I'm not going to.

00:47:39:28 - 00:47:47:22
Lisa
Go work with a business coach whose models are to scale to thousands of people and outsource coaching for it. That's not what I want for myself.

00:47:47:22 - 00:48:14:20
Angela
So I'm so with that word expensive, which is such a uplifting and exciting word as we you know, as we bring this interview, I guess, to a close, what does the future hold? What does a really expensive Lisa, both personally and professionally look like?

00:48:14:22 - 00:48:33:04
Lisa
This is such a really beautiful question and, you know, as you know, after the past couple of years have been it was really about head down and just doing more deep work on myself so that I can be in this position to expand. And only now am I really thinking about, wow, what does that look like for me?

00:48:33:06 - 00:48:46:06
Lisa
What things I experience that I want more of. So I do know I want more travel. I do know I want more in-person experiences. I do know I want to create more adventures for other people. Because I do think changing.

00:48:46:06 - 00:48:47:04
Angela
Our.

00:48:47:06 - 00:49:20:12
Lisa
Environment is so profound in transformational work. If we can make that happen, you know, I know what I want for myself financially because I also recognize like, Oh, I might not want to work till I'm 90. I don't I don't know. So expansive is really I'm at a place now where it's like everything that I've wanted in my life for the most part, I've accomplished for myself, right?

00:49:20:12 - 00:49:36:10
Lisa
Like I used to have a really big sticky note out and like, these are all the things I want to buy. And I literally crossed everything off of it, including my car. So now I'm at this place where I've never been before and I'm like, How can I dream bigger than I ever had before? What does that look like?

00:49:36:13 - 00:49:46:20
Lisa
And who do I need to surround myself with? Who will support those bigger visions? Which is one of the reasons why I hired myself a new coach, right? Because she's playing at a level that I'm like.

00:49:46:20 - 00:49:50:01
Angela
What is what does that look like? What's it look.

00:49:50:01 - 00:50:11:05
Lisa
Like? What's the air like up there? I don't know if I want that for myself, but I want to be in rooms that expand me into what's possible beyond my own limitations. Because even with everything I've accomplished, I know I'm still limiting myself. Not in a bad way. This isn't like an exciting like, Oh my God, Like, I can look over this fence now what's over here?

00:50:11:05 - 00:50:36:24
Lisa
Right? Whereas when I was five, I couldn't even reach the top of the fence. So it's it's kind of like knowing I want more travel. I'm, you know, I'm really deep into nurturing my personal relationship to a level that I never thought was accessible because, again, I thought that the box was good. I didn't even recognize that there was so much more available outside of that box.

00:50:36:27 - 00:50:49:01
Lisa
So working on that in my personal relationship were thinking about, you know, what would it look like to live out of the country for six months out of the year, which feels like both exhilarating and terrifying.

00:50:49:04 - 00:50:49:21
Angela
Yeah.

00:50:49:24 - 00:51:14:29
Lisa
How amazing to never see winter again. I'm not a winter person. What would it be like to be on the beach and to loom, You know, knowing that I want to continue to look at my schedule like, what is this schedule that feels really good for me? What you know, what type of amazing men and women do I want to continue to welcome into my practice What type of phenomenal humans do I want to bring into my life?

00:51:14:29 - 00:51:35:26
Lisa
Just as connections like I'm connecting with people now that I'm like, again? Like, how are these people in my life now? It's because I'm that energetic match for that and stepping into those conversations. So it's it's really like I feel like I'm standing on top of a mountain surveying land and trying to decide like, who which one do you want to climb next?

00:51:35:29 - 00:51:41:03
Lisa
But in the most beautiful, you know, Yeah, yeah. And that's exciting. And there's.

00:51:41:05 - 00:51:42:10
Angela
Like.

00:51:42:13 - 00:52:03:23
Lisa
It's not all sunshine and roses either. After, you know, the last year of really not putting focus and attention on business growth, there's been consequences of that. So I don't want to paint this like I'm just like over here rolling in happiness and glitter and rainbows, right? What I want everybody listening to understand is that there's there's always contrast in our lives.

00:52:03:27 - 00:52:05:05
Angela
Yeah, there's always.

00:52:05:05 - 00:52:13:25
Lisa
Going to be light and dark day and night up and down, good and bad. And even in the best of times, there's still going to be that contrast.

00:52:13:27 - 00:52:14:23
Angela
Yeah.

00:52:14:25 - 00:52:41:15
Lisa
Inhale. And the exhale. So it's navigating both. But the difference now is there's no like I said, there's no sense of urgency. And I'm just operating from a different place than I've ever operated from in terms of energetics of it. There's no worry, there's no fear. There's definitely like aware, like have to be aware. I have to be a responsible human, but I'm also not getting into the old traps before that would have me starting to hustle and freak out.

00:52:41:15 - 00:52:48:08
Lisa
And I'm like, Oh, this is what I was talking earlier to a client about, about when you know everything is going to be okay.

00:52:48:10 - 00:52:48:25
Angela
Yeah.

00:52:48:25 - 00:53:15:24
Lisa
And you truly work from that place. That's when so much shifts. And I just I have so much evidence of my own that regardless of what is thrown at me, I will always figure out a way to show up and be responsible for. My role will always expand me in the best way. So yeah, I don't really know what's on the horizon, but it's like super awesome, whatever it is.

00:53:15:26 - 00:53:17:11
Angela
Yeah.

00:53:17:14 - 00:53:20:23
Lisa
And that's working from like expecting the best.

00:53:20:25 - 00:53:22:19
Angela
Yeah. Yeah.

00:53:22:21 - 00:53:45:01
Lisa
I'm going to work from expect the best because my God, like I cannot control anything that's going on outside in the environment today, whether you're on your side of the planet or my side of the planet. Like, I can just, I can be responsible for my little vortex here and how I can make an impact in the world and and invite other people into the same.

00:53:45:04 - 00:54:36:22
Angela
Yeah. I think one of your superpowers is this part that you said about intimacy. I think a lot of it is about vulnerability. I creating spaces where people can show up to be vulnerable, but also show up yourself. Because I know even on this call and and, you know, work together, that it's when you share those parts of yourself that I think really deepen that connection because I think it can be kind of alluring sometimes to sit in the place of the coach or holding back and and ultimately, I think the real strength that you have is is to be able to put that aside and say, like, I have some skills and expertise and

00:54:36:22 - 00:55:07:18
Angela
I'm human and we work alongside that intimacy and connection. And yeah, that's what I would just say that I think it's it's really exciting to hear about that expanse of, you know, what you see out there, what you know, you're going to be working to bring more in, you know, both kind of energetically and in creating. And I think all of the lessons here will be cheering you on, as I will be.

00:55:07:18 - 00:55:21:29
Angela
And yeah, really, really wishing you the best. And also, I know we can be grateful that we're we're bound to hear part of it in future episodes. So I will always thank you for taking us on the ride.

00:55:22:01 - 00:55:27:24
Lisa
Well, I appreciate you spending the time with me to do this. This was fun. I hope you got all your questions answered.

00:55:27:27 - 00:55:33:03
Angela
Yeah, Yeah. Oh, we just went with it. I just, you know, it's phrases that I know and.

00:55:33:03 - 00:55:36:00
Lisa
You'll probably come back next week. You'll be like, I've got ten more questions for you.

00:55:36:05 - 00:55:36:28
Angela
Yeah.

00:55:37:00 - 00:55:54:10
Lisa
And that's. That's okay too, right? It's, it's, you know, I want to encourage anybody, if you have a mentor or a friend or whoever, like, reach out and ask the questions that you've been afraid to ask, because more often than not, people are really willing to share their journey.

00:55:54:13 - 00:55:55:29
Angela
Yeah, nobody's asked them.

00:55:55:29 - 00:56:05:00
Lisa
And often we tell ourselves, well, what value, right? Even as we're having this conversation, I'm like, Are people going to like, Is there something in here for people that will help them?

00:56:05:02 - 00:56:05:17
Angela
Yeah, And I.

00:56:05:17 - 00:56:19:21
Lisa
Have to just trust that, that there is that there is lessons in my journey. And that's, that's why I'm willing to show people behind the scenes of my world. Because I think when we connect as humans, especially when we're in leadership roles, because leadership.

00:56:19:21 - 00:56:20:24
Angela
Roles.

00:56:20:26 - 00:56:44:06
Lisa
You don't get to take the mask off in very many places because you have to lead other people. And so, yes, it requires vulnerability. But to get into a space where you can truly take off all the masks and let people see you and be met with compassion and held in your power still, right? Like none of my clients get to be victims, but they also get to be really human.

00:56:44:08 - 00:57:02:06
Lisa
And I give them permission to be really human because I also show up as truly, truly, deeply human in all my messiness too. So, yeah, I appreciate you giving me an opportunity to share. I thought that I thought they were great questions and I trust everybody is going to get what they need. So thanks, Angela.

00:57:02:09 - 00:57:08:02
Angela
Thank you. It's been really fun and I appreciate being able to do it. Well, the brains and brains and it's been such a.

00:57:08:02 - 00:57:14:28
Lisa
Pleasure working with you and we'll have to have you on the podcast to really take people through your journey of to pull up.

00:57:15:00 - 00:57:15:22
Angela
Yeah.

00:57:15:24 - 00:57:17:08
Lisa
So when you first started.

00:57:17:08 - 00:57:19:20
Angela
And then strengthened because.

00:57:19:20 - 00:57:48:03
Lisa
It really has been, you've gone through a profound transformation and I hope that you see that in yourself and that I hope also see your own power in inviting people into intimate and vulnerable spaces for them to work alongside of you. So everything that you've had to navigate has has deepened your own wisdom and your own perspective that you get to pay forward in your coaching.

00:57:48:03 - 00:57:54:27
Angela
So yes, absolutely. That's, I think, a beautiful note to finish on. So thank you once again.

00:57:54:29 - 00:57:58:27
Lisa
Thanks for tuning in, everybody, and we will catch you on the next episode.

00:57:58:27 - 00:58:20:08
Lisa
Hey. Hey. Before you go, I'd like to ask you something. How much longer are you willing to put yourself last to keep pushing through, hoping things will magically change while feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, and disconnected from the life you truly want. Tell me if this sounds like you. From the outside. Most people think you have it all figured out.

00:58:20:13 - 00:58:41:06
Lisa
But the truth is that on most days you feel like you're barely holding it together. Your life is full of responsibilities and there's a high demand on your time and energy. You know you can't drop the ball yet. You're terrified it's going to happen. And worst of all, you're already taking the hit because you often end up at the bottom of your to do list.

00:58:41:08 - 00:59:14:13
Lisa
You've achieved so much, yet deep down, what you want most is more ease, more fulfillment, more joy, more you. And that is exactly what reclamation is all about. This isn't just another program. It's your opportunity to finally break free from the patterns that are keeping you stuck and step into a life that feels aligned, intentional and fulfilling. It's a safe space to have conversations that matter with women who get you and share your complicated relationship with vulnerability.

00:59:14:15 - 00:59:41:02
Lisa
