Hi guys, Lisa Carpenter here Transformational Life and Nutrition Coach.
Today I’m talking about self care 101 and how to give yourself what you need to feel your best.
I am up in Kelowna and am sitting in a coffee shop and that building that you’re looking at right there, that’s where my conference is.
I am at an event called Shine Live put on by Chantelle Adams and it just brought a bunch of women, for the most part online entrepreneurs together to really collaborate, connect, get clear on our stories and our messaging.
I came to get out from behind my computer and really connect with some phenomenal women which I am doing and the reason why I wanted to do this livestream is because I wanted to talk about Self-care 101 and if you’re prepared to do what you need to do to take care of you.
On my way up to this event I made sure that I brought along food that I like, that will support me so I won’t be eating out constantly. I packed things like hard boiled eggs, a bunch of chicken that was cut up, greek yogurt and I just kept it really simple.
I don’t get complicated anymore with packing of meals but I do make sure that I always have stuff with me. Oh I had smoked salmon as well.
I wanted to have stuff to snack on in the event because the only thing that was available is water and some apples which is great. It’s nice to have and there’s a lot of places to eat out.
Yesterday was a really long day.
We started at 8:30 in the morning and we went till about 6:00 and then I went for dinner after with a bunch of women.
That was phenomenal, tons of energy, amazing conversations and I have truly, truly just enjoyed the experience.
Today I got up I wasn’t feeling super great and just a little bit tired and we just took a break and we all went out for lunch.
I actually got up from the table and I excused myself because what I needed more than connecting and eating lunch with everybody was to sit and just have some time quietly to myself which is why I came over to the coffee shop.
I just need to sit in the sun, not be around to anybody and let myself recharge. This is one of the reasons why I haven’t been live streaming because there’s just so much going on. By giving myself that time and permission to just say, you know what, I need some time to myself, it enables me to fill-up my bucket. Get my energy back in which case I can show up for you guys and come and do this live stream.
So I wanted to ask you.
Are you willing to give yourself the things that you need to feel your best, to perform your best, to look your best?
It’s not always easy stepping away from the table, so to speak, saying, I love you guys and I need to go do this for me.
Now all of the women that I’m with of course, they all understand because the majority of them are coaches. They are very much into self-care and taking care of themselves but, you know, we all have this journey to go through.
From saying yes to everybody else and never saying yes to ourselves, to learning how to say no, to learning to really tune-in to what we need and making the things that we need non-negotiable.
I’m more of an introvert. I call myself extrovert and introvert and I actually really enjoy meeting and getting to know everybody but I also know that the introvert inside of me gets really tired because it’s so much energy to be around that I need to connect into myself.
So that’s what I’ve been doing.
Just spending a little bit of time on the patio with a nice decaf coffee.
I’m enjoying the sunshine, I’m not having to talk to anybody except to you guys and it’s just a great way for me to fill-up my bucket a little bit and give myself what I need. I really want to challenge you all in your lives to tune-in because I can tell when I’m not honouring my values. I can tell when I’m not honouring the things that I need to do for me because I start to feel anxious, I start to feel tired and I start to feel kind of grumpy like gnarly. I can almost got um… you know, I want to be nice to be around. I’m generally a nice person to be around so it is really important that I do those things.
Look at your life and see where you’re feeling angry and resentful and burnout and all of those things and if they’re going on for you, what are you not honouring?
What pieces of self-care do you need to sink into so that you can show up as your very best in your life and for the people that you love?
You know, I’m going to be able to walk back into this conference now and really be a 100% present with the amazing women, with the master mind that I am about to go into because I’ve given myself 20, 25 minutes to just sit and be still and soak in some sunshine because I’ve been inside all day which slays me. I need to be in the sun. I’m such a summer girl. And it’s beautiful here in Kelowna.
I would love to hear in the comments below what you do for self-care. What you need to do? Or what you haven’t been doing for yourself that you know you need to do?
Make those non-negotiables.
