Regardless of where you're tuning in, thank you so much for being here. We're going to be talking today about personal responsibility. And the energy audit, which is a new program that I'm releasing the first week of May of ces 2023. And I'm so pumped about this program, because if you are anything like the women and men who typically find me you are a multiple plate spinner, you have many balls in the air, and you probably find that you are never really prioritizing yourself. Yet, you really have big audacious goals, there's things in your life that you want to accomplish, you thrive on achievement. You know, I like to say that my clients, if the house were on fire, they are the people that you want on your team, because they are going to make sure everything that is important to you gets out of the house. However, they also typically put themselves at the bottom of their to do list and can often get into a feeling of overwhelm, and resentment and frustration, because the things that they really want to be doing. They don't seem to have enough time or energy to be doing. And that's why I created the energy audit. It's years of my work culminated in looking at all the different areas of your life, that are either giving you energy or taking away your energy. And it really all lands on this bed of personal responsibility. Now,

Lisa  2:31

what I like to refer to myself, as is an anti performance performance coach, because I believe that it's time for us to redefine what high performance is, especially for women, and step out of this male paradigm of what we believe to be true about what it's going to take for us to achieve our biggest goals, dreams, desires, and aspirations. Because the truth is, it's not about doing more, it's about taking responsibility for the things that you are being committed to, and committing to less of those things. So that you are truly focusing on the things that matter most to you, including the relationship that you're having with yourself. So personal responsibility is all about if it's meant to be, it's up to me. So the way that I like to describe it to clients is if you were to draw a circle, around the outside of your feet, everything on the inside of the circle is your responsibility, but what is going on outside of you, most of it, you don't have any control over get so many of us give our power away to our circumstances to other people, places, and things. And then we wonder why we wonder why we have, we don't have what we want in our lives. So on today's episode, I really want to talk about the elements of the energy audit, what the program is all about and how it's going to support you, releasing the things in your life that aren't serving you, while allowing you to create space to bring in more of what you want. So the energy audit is built on three different pillars. One is your relationship with your environment. So these are other people places and things, the things that give you energy, the things that rob you of your energy. And I've talked in previous episodes about looking at your relationships, your relationship with other people, how many people are you surrounded by that actually lift you up and make you feel better? versus how many people are you around that you're finding you're having to tolerate you're tolerating their behavior, or you're engaging in conversations that feel like they are sucking the life force out of you, that aren't in alignment with how you view the world. Perhaps you're getting into lots of arguments with other people. Maybe you're a mom, and you find parenting really challenging because if they could just your kids could just behave a certain way, then you would feel good if your partner would just do the things that you ask them to do.

Lisa  5:00

then you would feel better. And all of these scenarios, you're giving away your power, you're giving away your energy, and you're not standing in what you can be personally responsible for within the relationship. And that is how you're showing up in the relationship. So it doesn't mean that everybody gets to just do whatever they want. What it means is understanding that you can't control what other people do. But you can take responsibility for how you react, the people you're choosing to spend time with, where you're giving away your energy. Is it a reciprocal relationship? So the way I define amazing relationships is when both people in the relationship believe that they're getting the better end of the stick. But how many relationships are you in? Where you feel like you're giving all the time but you're not getting anything back? And are you giving with the expectation of getting something back? And are those fair expectations to put on other people, because we're often working from a lot of stories and beliefs about how relationships should be. But what makes that true, other than the fact that that's maybe been modeled to you, or that has been the story or belief that's been passed down? Generation, through generation in your family? So environment also includes things around you, your home, does your home make you feel the way you want to feel in it? Are you tolerating towels that feel like sandpaper on your body? Are you sleeping in sheets that are so old, you can see through them? These are subtle little things. But all of these things contribute to how we're feeling and contribute to either us having more energy, or having a lack of energy and not feeling really great in our lives. You can also look at things like, you know, are you using the fancy candles? Or are you saving things in your life for special occasions instead of using them and allowing yourself to feel good because you're burning the beautifully scented candle that you bought for yourself? Simple things in your environment go a long way to supporting you feeling the way you want to feel? We're gonna dive into your clothes. Are you wearing clothes that support you feeling the way you want to feel? Or do you go into your closet and feel like has everything hanging on the rack clothes that are outdated, or they don't fit you or you're hoping to fit into it again one day, but you're not actually allowing yourself to put clothes on your body that make you feel really great. Have you ever thought about the colors that you're wearing, or the outfits that you're choosing? Do you do get dressed with intention as a way of supporting your energy and how you want to show up in the world. So you always know I mean business when I'm wearing red lipstick. that's tied to my alter ego, which I did an episode on alter egos. I don't know how many episodes back, I'll turn referencing in the show notes for you. But I'm very intentional about the colors that I wear, the type of makeup that I put on how I want to do my hair, because that sets my mood. So tell me if I'm wrong here. But when you're wearing your sweats and your sweatpants and your you know grubby hoodie, and you're all cozy on the couch, that's a very different vibe than putting on

Lisa  8:22

you know, fancy work clothes, or a pair of high heels or your best fitting jeans. Very, very different vibe. So inside the energy audit, we're going to go through all these little different areas, including looking at your relationship with social media, because that is also part of your environment and your emails, all these areas that are costing you time and energy that you can reclaim by setting better boundaries. So we're going to dive all into boundaries as well. Okay, so that's pillar number one. And we start with environmental stuff, because it creates like quick and easy wins, where you start to feel better, almost immediately when you start to take inventory of all these different things. And I'm going to be asking you a lot of questions that are going to create a lot of clarity for you. So it's going to be easy for you to make these simple changes. Because I'm not here to add more to your plate. I'm here to help you put down the place. But for things to get easier, initially, we have to be willing to do the work to create that space for for ease. Okay. So the next part is looking at the relationship that you have with your emotions. So nobody wakes up in the morning and says, Oh my gosh, helped me feel my feelings better, Lisa, but I can tell you if you're like most of the women that I work with, you are trapped in your emotions without even realizing that you're trapped in your emotions. So this shows up in behaviors that we get into whether it be controlling, justifying

Lisa  10:00

constantly seeking other people's approvals.

Lisa  10:03

people pleasing, there's a whole host of behaviors that show us that show you the emotions that you may be trying to avoid, because we don't like to feel badly. And we will do everything in our power to avoid being in that intimate relationship with ourselves. But in order to gain your energy back in order to gain the emotional freedom that you're looking for, and create the life that you want, it requires that you create an intimate, connected relationship with yourself, and be willing to courageously look at some of these ways of being in your life, why you're chasing accomplishments, why you believe you have to work so late and do all the things, why you believe you need to be responsible for all the people why you believe that it's not possible for you to slow down or that rest is lazy. A lot of people think that rest is lazy.

Lisa  11:02

When we start to look at these behaviors, it will allow you to see yourself in a different light, and start to unravel them and question whether or not they're actually true. And what it is you want to be true for you moving forward. And we work on how we can start to take responsibility for changing these behaviors. So just because your entire life you have worked from this level of perfectionism, that is strangling you does not mean it needs to be that way, going forward. Just because you've always felt like you had to have control over every part of your life and every person in your life so that you could feel maybe safer, or you believe you're the only person who can do it right doesn't mean that you're stuck in those behaviors moving forward. And we have to look at what it's costing you to be in those behaviors, but also the benefit that you are getting out of being in them, even though you know, that is robbing you of your freedom. It's robbing you of feeling fulfilled, it's robbing you an ease, it's robbing you of your time, and your energy. So we're going to dive deep into all those different areas and unpack them. So you can be clear on whether or not you're operating being trapped in your emotions, or whether you're making decisions from a place of like, okay, how do I want to feel what is here? What do I need to acknowledge, moving through it, accepting what's going on for you, and then embodying a new way of being embodying new habits and behaviors. And all of this can be done, all of it can be done, it just takes time. But we can't change anything without the awareness first, and that's what the energy audit is for is to create massive amounts of awareness. So that you're able to look at these things, unpack them, create a level of acceptance around them, and then take action in a new direction. So this isn't a program where you're just going to be sitting back and journaling and meditating. The whole point is we're going to be taking action towards creating massive change in your life so that you can have more of what you want, and less of what you don't, I want you to have all the energy that you need to live that extraordinary life that you want for yourself and to be able to accomplish the things that you want to accomplish. And this is why I'm here to redefine performance. And this is why I call myself an anti performance performance coach, because we've been taught so many things about what it means to be a high performer or high achiever and a type personality. And you don't have to be all those things to be a great performer. And in fact, in most cases, in almost every case of every woman I've worked with, it is about learning that performance and top performance. High performance isn't about doing all the things, it's about doing the right things for you, being very discerning about what those things are. So it requires you to learn how to say no to yourself, and make different choices in your life and basically, do less. This is why the energy audit is so much about letting go we need to do this audit of your life so we can determine what you need to let go of so that you can let what you want in the last piece we're going to be looking at

Lisa  14:17

within the energy audit is the relationship with your physical body. This means your health and your well being your physical well being. Because if you want to be a top performer and you are not caring for your health,

Lisa 14:32

if you don't make time for wellness, you will eventually make time for illness and that will impact everything that you want to do in this life. So we are in a culture right now, that is more about avoiding illness than it is taking responsibility for their wellness. So you might be a very well person you might be someone who takes really good care of themselves. But I can tell you after doing this work for over two decades, most women have a very dysfunctional relationship with

Lisa  15:00

of their body. And it shows, it shows in how they put clothes on their body, it shows in the type of food choices that they're making. So the energy audit is going to allow you to create more clarity around what is going on with the relationship with your physical well being. Because we cannot skip over that. In terms of performance, the better you feel, the better you take care of this amazing vehicle that you've been given, the better you are going to be able to perform. And that includes looking at your relationship with rest, looking at your relationship with play, looking at your relationship with food, looking at the thoughts you are thinking and the stories that you are telling yourself about your body. are you abusing it on a daily basis? Or are you sending it loving thoughts? Are you partnered with your body? Or do you operate from the neck up and your body is just kind of like, you know, this actor thought that is along for the ride.

Lisa  15:57

So this is a very meaty program. But again, it's not meant to overwhelm you, it's meant to create awareness around all these areas. And then ultimately, you get to choose the changes that you want to implement in your life so that you can create more of what you want.
