Episode 149: Why You Really Have a Priority Problem, Not a Time Problem

Boundaries, Habits, Mindset, Podcasts

I recorded this episode the same week Facebook and Instagram went lights out. Some people went into a bit of a tailspin over the downtime, but for me it was an awesome day! There was nothing to do but just be completely present in my life.

Your experience might have been different though. Did you find yourself feeling fearful and anxious? Did you struggle to figure out what to do when you kept reaching for your phone to check social media, only to remember it wasn’t available?

One thing I often hear from women is about the lack of time they have to do the things they want. But I’m here to tell you, it’s never a time problem. It’s a priority problem, and too many people have made Facebook and Instagram such big priorities that they’ve become addicted. So in this episode, I want to talk about the opportunity the social media blackout presented, one which invited us to look at where we spend our time and energy.

1:58 – Why Facebook’s downtime didn’t impact me or my business

3:56 – How to figure out exactly how you spend your time

7:07 – A reminder of why you don’t have to be on social media every day

8:26 – The difference between numbing vs. intentional behavior

11:28 – The innocence of a time before social media addiction
